LUDLOW Town Colts’ perfect season in Division One of the Herefordshire County League continued, with a 5-1 win at home to Ross Juniors at the weekend.
Victory marked an eighth win in eight league games for the league leaders, who are joint top of the division with a Hinton Reserves side who beat Hereford City 2-1 at the weekend, but who have played four more fixtures yet still trail their title rivals’ goal difference by 27.
Colts are playing at playing Oakengates Rangers in the Shropshire FA Challenge Cup quarter-final this weekend and return to league action on December 15, when they face third-placed Wellington Colts, in a game already shaping up as a potential title-decider.
With third-placed Wellington also victorious on Saturday, inactive Orleton lost ground on the three sides above them. Orleton return to action at home to mid-table Bartestree Reserves on Saturday.
In Division Two, Orleton Reserves celebrated a 2-1 win at home to Malvern Vale, to leapfrog their mid-table rivals into seventh place.
The reserves can also trade places with their next hosts with a win this weekend, as they reach the halfway point of the season with a fixture at Belmont Rangers.
