A 1951 MG TD led the field as a full entry of 70 classic cars took part in the fifth staging of the Ludlow and the Marches Classic Tour.

The Ludlow Castle Motor Club event set off on the 140-mile tour of Shropshire and Powys from the club’s base at the Ludlow Brewing Company.

An impressive array of classic models made light of the damp, puddle strewn weather to follow a circuit of Brown Clee and Wenlock Edge to morning coffee at the Riverside Inn in Cressage.

Part two of the route took the drivers into Welshpool for lunch, crossing into Wales over Long Mountain before returning across the border as the weather turned across the Stiperstones for afternoon tea at the Inn on the Green, in Wentnor.

The skies continued to brighten as the crews began the final stage, passing Acton Scott farm museum, re-crossing Wenlock Edge and driving down Corvedale to finish at Ludlow Kitchen.
