LUDLOW stormed to a 5-1 win at Tipton Town Reserves in Division Two of the West Midlands League with teenager Scott Gilbert striking twice in just his second game.

The midfielder made his debut in the 6-3 win at AFC Bentley the previous week having made the step-up from the Colts side who have a 100 per cent record in Division One of the Herefordshire League.

And joint manager Chris Waldron said there could be more to come from the team once they get their injured players back and make a return to their home ground.

“Saturday was our sixth away game in a row so it’s not been easy,” he admitted. “I think the league is looking to give us home games when the weather turns because of our astro.

“We also have injuries with Kieron Dovey still missing with knee ligament damage. I’ve struggled to name the same side two games running.”

Tom Everall also scored twice at Tipton with Jack Marsden netting the other.

Elsewhere in Division Two, Church Stretton ran out 4-3 winners at Hawkins Sports with leading scorer Dean Richards grabbing a second half brace including the winner 13 minutes from time. James Hill hit Stretton’s first and Tom Carter was also on target.

Ludlow head to title favourites FC Darlaston on Saturday while Church Stretton are at home to Bentley.
