LUDLOW Castle Motor Club’s rallying family, the Petries, made the long journey to Fulbeck in Lincolnshire to take part in the Harold Palin Memorial Stages - an eight stage 45-mile event on a disused airfield.

Son Dan was drafted in to sit by local driver Matt Wood in his Vauxhall Corsa in car 29 with mum Michele driving the Petrie Peugeot 106XSI with 46 on the doors and with Helena Mayall calling the corners. Dad John sat beside Roger Titley in his BMW 323 and, being a late entry, they were seeded at 59.

Wood/Petrie were the quickest out of the box setting 21st fastest time on the first stage. Titley/Petrie emerged in 29th and Petrie/Mayall weren’t too far behind in 37th. Unfortunately the first stage was also to be the last for Wood/Petrie as lack of oil pressure forced their retirement.

Titley/Petrie played themselves in nicely rising to 12th overall at halfway with Petrie/Mayall in 31st having lost a wing mirror and dented a wing at a chicane.

Titley/Petrie were eighth fastest on the final stage to take 10th overall and first in class while Petrie/Mayall finished 22nd, fourth in class and first lady.
