TENBURY United joint manager Aaron Morris is hoping for a change of fortune when his side head into the unknown on Saturday.

The Palmers Meadow side have yet to win this season but Morris insists the Herefordshire League Premier Division strugglers just need the rub of the green for things to turn around.

They head to Inkberrow A on Saturday in the first round of the Worcestershire FA Minor Cup - and Morris says that it is shaping up to be a key match in United’s season.

“We are probably too far adrift to do anything in the league so a cup run is the best we can hope for,” he admitted.

“We won the competition two years ago and were knocked out by the eventual winners last season so it’s a cup we tend to do well in. And the fact that we know very little about Inkberrow will suit us as we will have to focus on what we do. It is shaping up to be a massive game for us.”

Morris headed Tenbury into an early lead against Holme Lacy at the weekend but they failed to build on that start and ended up losing 4-1.

“Things just aren’t going our way at the moment,” the joint manager added. “They couldn’t get out of their own half for the first 15 minutes but we took our foot off the gas once we scored and although the scoreline looks bad, they scored two in the last ten minutes when we were chasing the game.”

United had to concede Tuesday night's HFA County Challenge Cup game with Wellington after being unable to field a side.

Neighbours Tenbury Town also suffered a heavy defeat at the weekend, going down in the Premier Division 7-1 at Kingstone Rovers while Clee Hill picked up a point in their 1-1 draw at Malvern Town Reserves, Charlie Anthony with the goal.

Town are at home to Malvern’s Reserves on Saturday while Clee head to Holme Lacy knowing that victory could see them return to the top of the table.

In Division One, there seems to be no stopping Ludlow Town Colts at the moment who maintained their perfect start to the campaign with a fifth straight win - an 8-3 mauling of visitors Holme Lacy Reserves.

Danny Crowther led the way with five of the goals with the others coming from Dan Griffiths, Jabez Smith and substitute Jamil Kezze.

Orleton also had a handy win, seeing off Hereford Lads Club Reserves 5-0 at the Recreation Ground for what was just their second win of the season. Chris Breakwell and Chris Jennings bagged two goals apiece with Sam Thomas also getting his name on the scoresheet.

Orleton could find things a little tougher on Saturday as they play host to Division One leaders Hinton Reserves while Ludlow Town Colts head to basement boys Ewyas Harold Reserves.

Orleton Reserves made it back-to-back wins in Division Two with a thumping 6-1 victory at Withington. They head to Marden on Saturday.
