WESTFIELDS dropped valuable points in their bid for promotion with another home draw ahead of a trip to high-flying Sporting Khalsa this weekend.

Following the previous weekend's 2-2 draw with Dunkirk promotion rivals AFC Wulfrunians were the latest side to visit Allpay Park.

Andy Bevan's side had a host of early chances in the opening exchanges with Ben Miller and Jamie Molyneux missing early opportunities

Westfield then faced a hammer blow when defender Sam Plane was involved in a clash of heads and was taken to hospital to have stitches.

Not long after the incident the visitors took a 20th minute lead when Kyle Brady latched on to a Jake Webb long ball and slotted the ball under Keiron Blackburn.

Fields continued to play attacking football and Ben Hayes levelled the scores with a fierce shot across the keeper just two minutes before the interval.

After the break both teams mastered the windy conditions and it took just six minutes for AFC Wulfrunians to go back in front when good persistence from Simon Williams set up a chance for Charles Wilson to put the visitors back in front.

Westfields then threw everything back into the game and in the 65th minute drew level with the best goal of the match when Miller scored with a terrific finish from a tight angle to level the score.

Bevan's side went on to create further chances and Hayes, on the right wing, produced great crosses which both Carlos Moreira and Miller missed when it looked easier to score.

Westfields continued to push forward in an attempt to gain a winning goal and Craig Jones had a shot charged down before being denied by the visitor's goalkeeper.

At the other end, Blackburn produced two full-length saves to prevent the visitors from snatching a winning.

Bevan's side travel to a Sporting Khalsa side this weekend who have won five of their seven home league games losing just once.

They then host bottom-half Quorn on Monday night (7.45pm) who have won just once away from home in the league this term.
