‘A HELL of a comeback’ was how Tenbury United joint boss Nicky Stocker described his side’s recovery from 3-0 down to claim a point at Ewyas Harold in the Herefordshire Premier last weekend.

United were three goals adrift inside 25 minutes but Mark Boucker pulled one back on the hour and player/joint-manager Aaron Morris cut the deficit to 3-2 from the penalty after a foul on Jordan Morris with ten minutes to go.

Full-back Tom Farr, pushed up into midfield late on, then scored his first goal in several years for the club to earn them a point with the last kick of the game, arrowing a fine strike into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Stocker said: “The score at half-time didn’t really reflect the game because we felt we had been the better side and that gave us confidence, which is what we told the boys.

“We told them to keep doing what they were doing because if you pull one goal back, you never know what can happen.

“In the end, it felt like a win, having been 3-0 down. After suffering a heavy defeat the week before, the boys could have crumbled but we looked like a different team compared to the previous game.”

Despite the point, United remain second-bottom of the table ahead of this Saturday’s game at home to second-placed Westfields Reserves.

But they have games in hand on pretty much every side in the league and Stocker believes their position is a false one.

He added: “We are not as bad as the league table makes out. If you look at our goal difference, -2, we are not as bad as a team sitting second-bottom should be.

“In a way, it’s not a bad thing as some teams might underestimate us when they play us. Hopefully Westfields might look at the table and do that but it’s going to be a tough game against them as they are always strong.”

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Tenbury Town were thrashed 5-0 at Hinton, while leaders Clee Hill United’s game at home to Kingstone Rovers was postponed.
