SHAWBURY United boss Dave Richards says his side must ‘learn lessons’ from another rollercoaster week in the West Midlands Premier Division.

United thrashed Dudley Town 5-0 at home last Wednesday night with a Ben Salter brace, a Liam Taylor penalty and strikes from Jack Hickman and Keanu Cooper.

But they conceded twice in the final 20 minutes to lose 3-2 at struggling Bilston Town Community on Saturday after goals from Salter and Josh Carrington had turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead.

Richards – whose side host Cradley Town on Saturday – said: “It summed up our season so far.

“We’ve failed to deal with a long ball for Bilston’s second – and then we’ve given a silly free-kick away with 30 seconds left, which, to be fair, their lad has smashed into the top bin.

“You can’t be that naïve and lessons need to be learned by all. When we go away from our gameplan, we concede goals.”
