BOWLER Joe Williams was rewarded for a superb season with the accolade of First Team Player of the Year at Ludlow Cricket Club’s annual presentation evening.

Williams took 50 wickets during the season, including a best haul of 6-33, to help Ludlow to a sixth-place finish in the Shropshire League Premier Division.

Those efforts helped him claim the top prize at the awards night, which was held in front of more than 120 guests at Ludlow Brewery.

Albert Wall was named Player of the Year for the Second XI, while Simon Miles won the Third XI award and Phil Lewis collected the honour for the Fourth XI.

Sam Roberts was named Chairman’s Clubperson of the Year and was presented with the award by Ludlow CC chairman Phil Parker.

The Zeeshan Ahmad Memorial Award for Young Clubperson of the year went to Mackenzie Swift, who was presented with the honour by club vice chairman Steve Small.

The Ben Braggins Memorial Award, presented by Ben’s father Ian, went to Roger Furniss for his services to the club in umpiring 20 games for the Third XI during the season.

There were also a host of junior awards on the night, starting with the Under-11 Stars team, who were presented with their prizes by team manager Elaine Bowen and First XI skipper Ruel Brathwaite.

Chloe Williams and Sammy Bowen were jointly voted Player of the Year by their teammates while Henry Muckalt was Batter of the Year, Chloe Lawrence was Bowler of the Year and Jacon Owen won Fielder of the Year.

The Under-11 Storm Player of the Year award was presented by Hayley Evans and Brathwaite to Harry Marsh, with Hugo Hunt (batter), Jack Evans (bowler) and Ellis Wood (fielder) claiming the specialist honours.

Up next were the under-13s with team manager Ben Morgan and Brathwaite handing out the Player of the Year prize to Freddie Ammonds. Hamish Jardine (batter), Euan Morgan (bowler) and Zac Powell (fielder) collected the other awards.

Finally, head junior coach Ryan Lockley and team manager Ed Riley, alongside Brathwaite, presented the under-15 awards.

Olly Leggett was named Player of the Year for the under-15s, with Josh Williams (batter), Mackenzie Swift (bowler) and Jack Condliffe (fielder) also rewarded for their exploits during the season
