LUDLOW Town Colts made it three wins out of three in Herefordshire Division One as they held off a spirited comeback from hosts Ross Juniors.

Both sides had won each of their opening two games but it was Ludlow who sprang out of the blocks much the quicker to lead 2-0 in the opening ten minutes and 4-1 at half-time.

Dan Griffiths and Jabez Smith shared the goals with a brace apiece, while the hosts’ goal came from the penalty spot after a blemish from the otherwise-faultless Nathan Priday.

The second half was a completely different affair as Ross scored two quickfire goals to cut their deficit to 4-3 but that was how the scoreline stayed despite an end-to-end final half-hour.

“It was an interesting game of two halves – they are a good team so for us to win there was a great result and we will be looking to keep our run going on Saturday at home to Ledbury [Town Reserves],” said Colts boss Scott Mackenzie.
