CHURCH Stretton joint-boss Scott Peever has challenged his side to embark on another unbeaten run after their 16-game undefeated sequence was ended by Gornal Colts.

Stretton had not lost in the league since February – a run spanning ten games at the end of last season and the opening six matches of the current campaign.

It came to a halt at West Midlands Division Two leaders Gornal on Saturday, despite Dean Richards heading home a corner to give Stretton the lead around 20 minutes in.

Gornal levelled on the stroke of half-time and netted three times without reply in the second half.

Peever said: “We were proud of our unbeaten run but it had to go sometime. When they equalised with the last touch of the first half, it really knocked the stuffing out of us.

“It’s about how we bounce back now. Good sides dust themselves down and go on another run. I’m not expecting another 16-game run but you want to put three or four-game mini-runs together.”

Stretton this Saturday host Warstone Wanderers, who drew 1-1 at home to Ludlow, with Ryan Lewis netting for the latter. Ludlow, in seventh, host second-placed Hawkins Sports this Saturday.
