BYLET Bowling Club claimed the last trophy of the 2018 Flowfit Ludlow and District Bowls League season by winning the Handicap Knockout Cup.
The four teams that reached Finals Day – Bromfield, Cleobury, Mortimer and Bylet – had been successful in qualifying rounds throughout the season, with handicaps based on this season’s scores.
To reach the final, Bylet – with a 39 handicap advantage – beat Cleobury by six shots in the day’s second semi-final at Chelmarsh Bowling Club.
Cleobury looked in control thanks to wins from Dave Warrington, Phil Pack and Roy Andrews but Bylet bounced back to triumph with key victories from Sue Corfield, Geoff Carnell, Paul Cordy and Neil McLachlan.
In the day’s first semi-final, Bromfield clawed back Mortimer’s 52 handicap advantage to progress with Anthony Rogers, Kevin Richards, Liam Dovey, Gerry Haynes, Cheryl Lloyd and Adam Dovey all contributing key wins.
Bromfield had to triumph by 106 shots to win the final and that proved beyond them as victories for Corfield, Fiona Hammond and McLachlan gave Bylet their first title.
