TERRIFIC Tenbury United under-11s saw off all-comers to claim a fantastic triumph at Shrewsbury Town in the Community’s Summer Tournament at Ludlow Stadium.
They progressed through the League One club’s second annual junior competition with several impressive performances before seeing off Worthern Juniors in the final to lift the trophy.
Manager Tim Wright said: “The tournament featured teams from Telford, Shrewsbury, Welshpool and other surrounding towns - so for Tenbury to win was a great achievement from such a small town!
“As the manager of Tenbury under-11s, I’m proud to say the boys played some great football throughout the day and I was very proud to be part of the winning team. Well done boys!”
The two-day festival attracted teams from Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and even further afield with competitions in five age groups, from under-9s up to under-13s.
AFC Telford United won both the under-9s and under-13s events, Coventry United triumphed in the under-10s and Wrekin Juniors were crowned under-12s champions.
