Ludlow CC won at Newtown on Saturday despite a dreadful start to their reply.

Ruel Brathwaite’s men once again did well to bowl their hosts for 130 only to suffer the jitters with early ducks for Matthew Hawes and Gareth Parker, as they struggled to 1-1 and 2-2 at the start of their innings.

Opener Sam Edwards and number three bat Josh Williams (39) brought some sanity and Williams and Brathwaite set the visitors on course at 105-5 before Ludlow knocked them off for seven.

In Division Two 2nd XI Ludlow’s 2nds bowled the visitors for 97 after setting a 207-4 target but the 3rds lost at Hodnet, Peplow & Tibberton in Division Two after being bowled for 135 and seeing the hosts reach their target for the loss of just one wicket.

The 4ths conceded their match at Madeley 4ths in Sunday Two.

Bishops Castle lost at Shifnal in Division Two after the hosts chased down their 177 target, also for the loss of a single wicket.

Church Stretton needed just 57 deliveries to get the 60 runs needed for victory at Much Wenlock in Division Three and Corvedale bowled nine-man visitors Coton Hall for 42 in Division Four before knocking them off in 54 balls.

However Corvedale’s 2nds had to concede their fixture at Welshpool in Division Three 2nd XI.
