TENBURY Ladies 2nds cemented their place at the top of Worcester Division Three thanks to a 3-1 victory over Worcester 4ths.
They dominated from the start with Verity Van-Strattan and Hettie Wood controlling the midfield and it was only the effort of the Worcester keeper that kept them at bay.
And yet it was the visitors who opened the scoring, earning a penalty corner on the break from which they duly converted.
Tenbury levelled before half-time when Carys Cockayne tucked away a loose ball and the second half saw Worcester’s defence stretched as the league leaders brought Tash Lockett and Ella Blue more into play.
A quickfire double from Lisa Stokes finally clinched the win. Her first started deep in defence with a clearance pass out wide to midfielder Vicky Roberts who continued the break down the right before finding Stokes free in the D to slot home. Her second came when she scored from a rebound from a penalty corner.
[BLOB]Ludlow Ladies lost 6-0 at home to Shrewsbury, their plight not being helped by being able to field just nine players.
Sam Gardener was named Player of the Match.
