JANET Roberts battled with terrible wintry weather to win the Bronze A division of the ladies stableford competition at Ludlow Golf Club.

Her impressive score of 34 points was the best of the day.

Margaret Leake won the Silver division with 31 points and Jean Drakes finished top in Bronze B with 24.

A total of 23 ladies braved the weather.

The club’s Past Members Memorial Trophy was won by Wayne Gardner and Kevin Humphries with a fantastic 47 points in the better ball event.

But they were pushed all the way by the in-form Andy Watters and Roger Painter who finished a point behind with Jon Kendrick and Mark Littlejohns a shot further back in third.

Very cold weather and poor conditions made life challenging for those taking part in Ludlow’s Adult Junior Texas Scramble.

The honours went to Simon Jones, Jasper Jones, Andy Greenhalgh and Ethan Greenhalgh for an excellent nett 28.1 for the nine-hole competition.

In second place with a nett 36.1 were David Sanders, Fran Sanders, Harry Watts and Harvey Barker, while George Barker, Paul Slattery and Bruce Slattery finished third.

Entries are now being taken for Ludlow Golf Club’s open events and entry forms can be downloaded from ludlowgolfclub.com.
