TENBURY Ladies Hockey Club celebrated a league double at the weekend with wins for both the firsts and seconds.

The firsts were 2-1 victors at Harborne Ladies Fourths where a first half double from Abi Davies – converting two penalty corners – proved enough for the visitors.

The home side had their fair share of possession and Katie Petford in Tenbury's defence made some fine interventions in dangerous situations.

They did pull a goal back ten minutes from time after capitalising on an error but a strong defensive display from Tenbury kept the lead in tact, particularly from a late penalty corner.

Tenbury’s young second team took the honours at home to Redditch Ladies Seconds with two brilliant goals from open play from 15-year-old Hettie Wood helping them to a 2-1 win and securing her the player of the match award.

The home side were always in control with keeper Amy Bufton and sweeper Izzy Griffiths rarely troubled.

Ludlow Ladies, meanwhile, were hit by flu ahead of their match at Bridgnorth Seconds and started with just nine players.

They defended well for the opening 20 minutes before the home side made the breakthrough on their way to a 7-0 win.

Ludlow’s player of the match was Helen Braden.
