CRAIG Morris admitted his winning return had been something of a relief after a third-round stoppage against Marcin Cybulski.

The Ludlow-based southpaw stepped back into the ring for the first time since relinquishing his Midlands Area Welterweight belt to Ryan Fields in February.

He saw off plucky Pole Cybulski at the Copthorne Hotel, Brierley Hill, West Midlands thanks to a pair of left hooks that twice downed his opponent.

Cybulski rose to his feet second time around and answered the count but the referee had seen enough and waved him off with 21 seconds of the third remaining.

“I knew I had to get a stoppage to make people believe and talk a bit more again,” Morris told Black Country Sport. “It was hard to catch him, though, he was dipping his head right down.

“I have been waiting to get back out there for ages. After the loss, I needed to but it has been hard to get a date in.

“I was not 100 per cent in the last one, taking nothing away from Ryan Fields. He definitely performed better than I thought he would. I wasn’t on my game that night and needed this one to get back in.”
