TENBURY Snooker Club claimed the local bragging rights by beating The Farmers in a Ludlow & District Knockout Team Trophy final that lasted into the small hours.
Captain Charlie Fernihough, Jason Palmer, Brett Mackintosh and Ben Tamplin battled beyond midnight in the showpiece held at Ludlow Snooker Club.
It was Tenbury’s second successful raid on a cross-border rival’s trophy cabinet following a nip-and-tuck exchange between some of the district’s top hotshots.
Fernihough, recently crowned the region’s individual champion in his own right, said: “This team final was always going to be a tough challenge but we have had a great season.
“The team has consistently played well and I was confident we could bring the silverware from Shropshire back into Worcestershire.
“Although this was a team game, Brett Mackintosh was the man of the match. He not only won his game against a tough opponent but also maintained his composure to triumph in the newly-introduced out-of-the-hat rule to separate deadlocked frames.”
