TENBURY United have booked their place in the final of the Worcestershire Junior Cup after the double heartbreak of losing in two previous semi-finals.

They will play holders Littleton, from near Evesham, at the end of the season at a venue which is yet to be decided.

Skipper Matthew Kurkus said: "This is brilliant. We have finally made it after losing out before. The players and our supporters now have a great day out to look forward to. It really is a great achievement for a club like ours. We hope to put the club firmly on the county map."

Manager Colin Powell said: "Third time lucky and we are in the final. We were in control throughout. The lads deserve a pat on the back for this performance. To get to the final means so much to us."

He added: "We restricted Bewdley to one or two chances throughout the game, created a number of our own and managed to convert three when it counted. This will keep our season alive, with plenty of interest, as we strive to improve on our positition in West Midlands One."

Tenbury took the game by the scruff of the neck and should have been 2-0 up by half time. But Bewdley survived the onslaught and the sides went in 0-0 at half time.

In the second half, assistant manager Graham Caldicott was replaced by Ryan Morris, returning from injury after breaking his collar bone. He made two raids down the left which resulted in George Pearson stabbing home in the 55th and 65th minutes.

With five minutes left, striker Ross Oliver came on and beat three players. His pass found Michael Foster who made no mistake to wrap up the victory.

On Saturday, Tenbury are away to Bridgnorth in the League Cup, kick off 3pm.
