THE LEADING lights from the popular Tenbury Burgage Bowls League have been honoured in a fun-packed annual presentation evening.
League spokesman Ingrid Powell said the event, staged at Little Hereford Sports Club, was a huge success.
The Woodbees were the top side and carried off the Division One title, with the Waistliners triumphing in Division Two.
Sue Edwards rolled her way to the women’s singles title for a second year, with Burgess Adams winning the men’s singles.
Margaret Leake and Tina Tandler joined forces to clinch the women’s pairs’ title for a second year.
Robert and Mike Morris triumphed in the men’s pairs’ competition, while Allen Wait and Hazel Bradley teamed up to win the mixed pairs competition.
Alan Westwood won the only Sunday match to lift The Bernard James Cup.
Liz Preece, Bruce Davenport and George Hadley were successful in the triples competition, while the Jackfinders team went home with the Knockout Cup trophy.
Ingrid Powell said Phil Gibbs, from The Clockhouse, gave a delicious choice of three meats for the carvery, league’s resident comedian, chairman Allen Wait, provided the entertainment and Derek Plant presentend the trophies.
She said the hugely enjoyable evening drew to a close with most members taking home a draw prize or a bottle of wine.
