A SCHOOLGIRL from Kidderminster has donated all 22 inches of her long blonde hair to be made into a wig for a child with cancer.
Baxter College student Ellie Parry tripled her fundraising target by raising more than £1,500 for the Little Princess Trust when she shaved off her hair to be made into a wig for the charity.
The 15-year-old braved the shave live on Facebook and Instagram, and says she loves her new short hair, which she has since dyed pink, silver and platinum blonde.
Ellie said: "It went really well, I was so excited.
"I was really nervous two weeks before but on the day I was just really excited to have it done.
"I originally wanted to do the head-shave somewhere in public but that couldn't happen because of the lockdown so I had to do it in my dad's back garden with just a few of my family members there.
"I cut off a few of the bunches myself and my family members cut some off too and then me and my mum and dad shaved it. It was a team effort.
"I was hoping to raise £550 but I ended up raising £1,000 more. I was mind-blown!"
Ellie said she has found it "empowering" having no hair and previously said she hoped her fundraiser would help to teach others her age that beauty is more than skin deep.
She said: "I've found it really empowering having no hair, although I do scare myself in the mirror quite a lot!
"A lot of people have said it really suits me and I've been able to dye it different colours. It's just made me feel really positive."
