WORCESTER has seen a small rise in the number of new cases of Covid-19.

The Public Health England (PHE) figures are based on tests that have been carried out both in laboratories and in the wider community, and provide the data for each local authority area.

The latest PHE figures show Worcester had, during the week ending July 6, an infection rate of 4.9 cases per 100,000 people.

This is up from the 2.9 cases per 100,000 people in the week before (up to June 29).

Redditch is at 3.5 per 100,000 people, up from 1.2 the previous week.

Wychavon is at 0.8 per 100,000 people, down from 3.9 the previous week.

Bromsgrove is at 1.0 per 100,000 people, down from 12.2 the previous week.

And Wyre Forest is at 2.0 up from 0 the previous week.

Data for the most recent three days (July 7 to 9) has been excluded in the data, as PHE says it is incomplete and likely to be revised.

The data is used by the government to determine local lockdowns. In comparison Leicester, which is currently in a lockdown, had 125.3 per 100,000 people in the week ending July 6.
