A NEW hair and beauty salon is set to open its doors at the site of a former newsagents near Stourport.
The Salon at Areley Kings will welcome its first clients on Thursday after being officially opened by the Mayor of Stourport Ken Henderson and his daughter Julie Guest on Tuesday.
The building had previously been used as a newsagents and has undergone a major refurbishment on all three floors to transform it into a hair, lashes and beauty salon.
Memi Ladek, who runs the salon alongside Becca Winsper, said: "We've completely renovated the whole premises. It was a lot of work as it was a building site when we took it on.
"We've had to replaster everything and do it all from scratch - it's been like an episode of DIY SOS.
"The community in Areley Kings have been so supportive. I think they're just happy to see that someone has taken it over and made it look lovely.
"Two salons have had to close in Stourport because of the pandemic so we're taking on a lot of their old clients too.
"The hairdressers will open on Thursday, but we're still waiting for Boris to release the date for beauty salons - it's such a shame we can't all open at the same time but hopefully it won't be too much longer."
The Salon at Areley Kings features a hairdressers on the bottom floor, a lashes salon on the first floor and beauty salon on the top floor.
The hair salon is already completely booked up until mid-August.
Memi said: "I've lived just around the corner for 15 years so I know the village really well. We're really looking forward to opening."
