Dear Sir-
I was so saddened to read your article about the vandalism in Fort Royal Park (“Vandalism in City Park”, 17th June).
I, along with colleagues at Worcestershire Archaeology, designed the illustrated information ‘plaque’ shown vandalised in your photograph and I know how much hard work went into producing this and the play area that was also damaged.
This plaque has helped numerous Worcester schoolchildren to understand what the Fort looked like and thus to engage with the fascinating history of their home city.
The damage bears all the hallmarks of vandalism for vandalism’s sake - carried out by mindless idiots - and nothing whatsoever to do with the peaceful actions of the BLM movement.
Fortunately my sadness at seeing this was more than offset by the heartwarming article on the adjacent page (City Welcomes Food Campaign), about Marcus Rashford’s success in persuading the Government to retain School Meal Vouchers.
His actions will benefit 1.3 million children over the six week school holiday. Need I say more?
Kind Regards
Carolyn Green, Worcester
