FRONTLINE Worcester postal workers are in line for a payment of £200 for working during the coronavirus crisis.

Meanwhile, the chief executive of Royal Mail has left the position after less than two years into the job, stepping down with immediate effect amid reports he had been running the business from his home in Switzerland.

Royal Mail has faced criticism from its own staff, including from a post woman from Worcester, over scrapping Saturday deliveries of letters temporarily during the crisis. There has been criticism nationally over lack of personal protective equipment for workers. A spokesman for the Communication Workers Union said: "We have also secured a Covid-19 payment for CWU members."

Royal Mail has agreed to pay a £200 lump sum to 'frontline colleagues' which will be made in June to 'CWU represented grades' in recognition of their efforts between March 16 and May 10.
