A WOMAN has described the terrifying moment a youth threatened to beat her dog to death with a baseball bat in a Worcester park, telling her his mum had just died of coronavirus.

Kirsty Webb shared on social media details of the threats made towards her dog on Monday evening as she walked though Gheluvelt Park near the Pump House in Barbourne.

She had been walking through the park when she encountered a group of men aged between 18 and 20 years old on the field connected to the park, playing rounders/baseball or sat drinking beer. She said: “My dog ran and got the ball they were hitting and, because I couldn’t get it from him immediately, one of the boys/men threatened to smash my dog with the bat. He followed him around making threats and then as I tried my best to explain that I could get the ball if he calmed down he came towards me while telling me he had just lost his mother and hoped my dog now died too. The police have been involved but haven’t been able to find any of them.”

Ms Webb described what happened on a public Facebook post, also shared on ‘WR3 Residents Info’, a group which has over 2,600 members.

She asked anyone around Worcester who had seen a group of four to five youths around 18 to 20 years old drinking and playing baseball to report the matter to the police.

Ms Webb also described two of the males - one white with shoulder length light brown straight hair with a checked shirt.

The other she referred to as mixed race or possibly Hispanic with black hair and dark brown eyes, about 5ft 6ins tall, wearing a white cap and a black tracksuit jacket with a metal baseball bat. She added: “If anyone has seen them or may know where they live, any information would be much appreciated to pass onto the police.”

One person described the threat as ‘vile.’

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: “We received a report on May 11 around 5pm regarding some threatening behaviour in Gheluvelt Park. Officers have visited the park and investigated the report, conducting a search for those reportedly responsible however no trace of them was found. If anyone does have information they can call us on 101 quoting reference 0440s of May 11, 2020
