RESIDENTS across the borough struggling to meet energy costs during the coronavirus outbreak can access help through Dudley Council’s Winter Warmth Service.

The scheme, which helped more than 800 residents to keep warm and well in their homes last winter, gives people chance to save significantly on their home energy bills.

Residents can use the service to take advantage of cheaper prices that are currently on offer during the pandemic, in recognition of the fact they will be at home and using much more fuel than usual.

The council team does a whole market comparison, tailored to need and usage, offering advice on appropriate tariffs and supporting residents through the switch process.

Help with energy debt, discounts and home grants is also available.

Councillor Laura Taylor, Dudley's cabinet member for housing, communities and residents’ welfare, said: "The Winter Warmth Service has benefitted many of our residents and with people spending more time in their homes and using more energy due to the virus outbreak we are reminding everyone that help is at hand.

"We want everyone to keep warm and stay well and that’s why our winter warmth support scheme will be offering help and advice to people who may be struggling at home.

Anyone worried about keeping their home warm during this crisis, struggling with paying their fuel bills or concerned about keeping well at home can ask for help from the team.

People can request a free home visit by calling the winter warmth helpline on 01384 817086.
