The streets of Worcester were filled with the sounds of people cheering and applauding our amazing care workers for all their efforts during the coronavirus pandemic.

Thousands of people stood in windows, back gardens and doorways at 8pm tonight to show appreciation for all the key workers putting themselves at risk every day to look after others. 

Fireworks were set off in Warndon Villages and the cheers and claps could be heard by the hospital.

It was a heartwarming moment with people from all across the city coming together as one to celebrate our fantastic NHS.

West Midlands Ambulance Service tweeted: "Wow! Wow! Wow! That was an absolutely incredible 60 seconds that will live long in the memory of all NHS Staff. So much noise, cheering and clapping - we are truly humbled."

People flocked to Facebook to share their videos and comments of the amazing event. 

Angie Tune said: "Newtown road and around can hear clapping all from my front step. Go Worcester. Thank you all NHS."

Anne Pratt said: "I’ve just done my clapping and felt very very proud to be able to show my thanks to the NHS staff. The response I witnessed was incredible. Thank you."
