A MUM-of-two from Bewdley is selling her own mugs to raise money for the Millbrook Suite at Kidderminster Hospital where she is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Claire Bourne, aged 47, discovered a lump after watching a segment about checking for breast cancer on the ITV show Lorraine in November, and was diagnosed a month later.

She now attends the Millbrook Suite every three weeks to have chemotherapy and came up with the idea of designing a mug to give something back to the hospital ward and turn her experience into something positive.

Kidderminster Shuttle:

Claire, who is set to get married in December, told The Shuttle: "I love arty things anyway and I wanted to do something to help support other people who are going through breast cancer.

"The nurses at the Millbrook Suite are amazing and couldn't be nicer. Last time I was there, one nurse told me they were giving chemotherapy to 40 people that day."

She added: "I came up with the design myself - I thought it was something every woman would relate to. I'm hoping it will encourage people to regularly check their boobs, which is something I never did.

"I contacted The Melting Pot in Bewdley and they helped me bring my design to life. The response has been amazing."

Within a week of the mugs going on sale, The Melting Pot has already received 60 orders for the 'boob mugs' and has also been contacted by local businesses looking to stock the mugs, including Kimmy Loves Cake in Bewdley.

The mugs feature the hashtag 'grab life by the boobs' and cost £15, £6 of which will go to the Millbrook Suite.

Kidderminster Shuttle:

Camille Peplow, of The Melting Pot, said: "We've been selling the mugs for about a week and we've got 60 orders already.

"They're gorgeous - Claire's design is so simple but effective, and we've just translated that onto the mugs.

"The message about regularly checking your boobs is so relevant at the moment. I've got family members who have had breast cancer and I know our manager Beth has too.

"Claire must be struggling so much at the moment but the fact she's doing this is amazing."
