A MAN who was given only months to live in 2018 says he is still here and still fighting, as he launches his latest fundraiser.

Mike Hull has faced a continuous battle since wife Carol found a mole and he was first diagnosed with melanoma back in 2013.

Mr Hull said “We went to the doctor and eventually had to have it surgically removed.

“In 2016 I developed a cough which wouldn’t go away so we went back to the doctor and the scan showed spots on my left lung, part of which had to be removed to deal with it.

"After visiting the doctor again it was found that I had a tumour in my spine and five in my liver."

In October 2018 he was given just a 15 per cent chance of surviving but new treatment led to discovering he had only one tumour left, and after treatment he told us last year "most importantly it gave us time and that is all we could hope for".

But Mr Hull said that in the middle of last year he was given more devastating news, when he was told the treatment he had been receiving was no longer working.

The 65-year-old said: "The doctors at Worcestershire Royal said 'there is nothing more we can do for you'.

"It was gutting to hear that really. But I kept thinking there must be something they could do."

Over the years Mr Hull has raised thousands for Melanoma UK, and the charity's chief executive Gillian Nuttall arranged for him to have a second opinion with doctors in London.

"I travelled down to London, and they have now given me trial drugs I take every four weeks, called Ratilumab," the Droitwich resident said.

"This is my last option, but at the moment the early signs are looking promising."

The walking football tournament, where teams compete to win the Droitwich Against Melanoma trophy, is being held at 11am on May 31 at Droitwich Sports Centre in Briar Mill. All proceeds from the event, which includes a fun day, go to the charity.

Mr Hull said anybody who want to register a team can do so by emailing him at hullmfc@hotmail.com.
