THE emergency services were busy over the weekend as Storm Ciara hit Worcestershire.

Our Worcester News readers have sent in their snaps of the storm, which caused chaos across the county.

Power cables were down in Trotshill Lane East, Worcester. Neil Westwood, of Magic Whiteboard said on Twitter that there was an explosion then ball of sparks and a very loud bang.

Here are a few of the areas that emergency services attended to make safe.

An unsafe bus shelter was damaged in Troutbeck Drive, Worcester.

The A442 Hallow near to Top Barn, a large tree fell down which was partly blocking one side of the road.

Two shrub like trees were blocking one side of the road in two separate locations coming from Croome Court to junction of A38 at Baynhall.

A decision to postpone all the Worcester and District league games yesterday. Wayne Hanson, league secretary said: “This decision was not taken lightly, especially as the season has already been heavily disrupted, however following an update from the Met Office, who have upgraded their weather warning to “amber”, we feel we would be acting irresponsibly and contrary to government advice if we were to expect you to travel tomorrow morning safely. Furthermore, it’s unlikely to be an enjoyable game of football with wind gusts up to 70mph and we have to consider the fitness of our pitches."
