A HEREFORDSHIRE primary school was evacuated earlier today following a suspected gas leak, with investigations into the incident continuing.

Pupils from Leominster Primary School in Hereford Road were moved to the nearby Earl Mortimer College.

Parents were told to pick up their children early, with pupils in nursery and reception leaving as early as 1.45pm.

No one was hurt or injured in the incident, the school has said.

A Facebook post from the school said: "We had to move the children to EMC this afternoon because of a suspected gas leak. Everyone is fine and safe."

A Herefordshire Council spokesperson added: "Due to a suspected gas leak the pupils and staff of Leominster Primary School were moved to an alternative location for safety.

"Parents and carers have been informed through the school’s normal communication channels.

"Investigations are ongoing and parents and carers will continue to be updated by the school."
