A CITY café has re-opened after it was forced to close two years ago.

Adam Edney, one of the owners of Coffee Dough, in Crowngate, said he was ‘excited’ after re-opening the café’s doors on Monday, January 6.

The shop, which serves multi-cuisine breakfast, lunch and drinks, was forced to close in October 2017 after work to renovate the store found that there was a problem with the floor and leaks in the glass structure of the building.

Mr Edney said: “Everyone has been really excited that we have re-opened. People were concerned, and some thought we had permanently closed.

“It has been nice to see some of the regulars come back and also meet new customers."

Mr Edney said the store has made a few changes to the menu and upgraded the seating area.

He said: “It is now easier for customers to get a takeaway. So, if people would like to nip in and out on their lunch break if they’re pushed for time it’s now quicker.

“It’s great that people have supported us and think more about supporting independent shops rather than big chains.

“My wife is Italian, so I used to travel over there a lot. When she came here, we missed the Italian food so that’s what has inspired us.”

The coffee shop posted on its Facebook page on January 6 announcing the opening, which received a huge reaction from the community.

The post said: “We’re home Worcester. Missed us? We’ve missed you. Come and say hi to the team and enjoy our inviting new space with your favourite drink.”
