A festive celebration is coming to the Artrix in Bromsgrove this weekend.

And a big attraction will be that seven-piece rocking combo, known as Quill.

A spokesman said: “Artrix welcomes back the legendary and ever-wonderful Quill. They will perform their Christmas Concert from 8pm on Saturday December 7.

“Lead vocalist Joy Strachan-Brain heads up the seven piece band in an eclectic mix of Christmas favourites. Expect stylish covers of well-known Christmas songs, Fairytale In New York, Rocking Around The Christmas Tree and Happy Christmas (War is Over) plus original songs such as Grey Goose Call.”

The spokesman added: “A brand new album from the long established folk/rock outfit plus an exciting new band line-up made it’s debut in October, playing two nights at the Rose Theatre in Kidderminster, to standing ovations.

“The new look Quill consists of long standing group members Joy Strachan-Brain on lead vocals and Katie McWilliam on violin, former Robert Plant drummer Andy Edwards, award winning Prog rock bassist John Jowitt, Abby Brant on keyboards and Lee Evans on lead guitar (both from Bev Bevan’s Stand Up and Rock Band) and Bev Bevan formerly of The Move, ELO and Black Sabbath on percussion and drums.”

And what about Quill’s latest album?

Well, suitably enough, it’s called Ghosts of Christmas.

The spokesman said: There are ten tracks in all on this latest release – the self-composed Ghosts of Christmas, Nine Mile Camp, Elephant In The Room and Grey Goose Call – plus quirky and stylised cover versions of Pete Seeger’s Bells of Rhymney, Steve Winwood’s Can’t Find My Way Home, Murray Head’s Say It Ain’t So and Al Green’s Take Me To The River.

“Get ready for a fabulous night of music.”
