VOTES have continued to pour in for the Worcester News Pub of the Year competition.

Our Pub of the Year contest sees readers voting for their favourite establishment in the city, with the winning landlord receiving a trophy and being invited to parliament by the city’s MP.

Another pub in the running for the prize is The Crown in St John’s.

The Crown has been getting votes from readers with one nomination saying that the pub, owned by Rob Turner, was “an essential part of the St John’s and wider community” adding it was a “true and iconic British pub”.

The Bransford Road pub is known for its quiz nights, charity fundraising and its live sport. The waterhole calls itself ‘St John Rugby Pub’, and become a popular venue during the recent Rugby World Cup.

To vote in our competition send the paper slip to Pub of the Year, Worcester News, Hylton Road, WR2 5JX.

Readers can also vote for their favourite pub by email too. All readers need to do is email deb.walton@localiq.co.uk with the subject ‘WORCESTER NEWS PUB OF THE YEAR: NAME OF THE PUB’ and then, in the body of the email, explain why that pub has been chosen.

The deadline for email votes is the same as for the newspaper voting slips: Friday, December 20.

The winner will be announced in the paper and on our website on Christmas Eve.

If you’d like your favourite pub to be featured email michael.purton@newsquest.co.uk.
