A ROLL of Nazi-themed loo roll which pokes fun at the Third Reich and Hitler has sold at auction for £160.

This has made it some of the most expensive toilet paper ever.

The 20 sheets, which were thought to have been produced in the 1930s, were put up for sale after being discovered in a barn and attracted worldwide interest.

The tissues are each imprinted with an image of a Nazi caricature - with one picturing Adolf Hitler with the caption: 'Now I'm brownshirt all over'.

Another features a large German general with the wording: 'No power on earth can wipe us out'.

The collector's item had been expected to fetch more than £100 but ended up being sold for £198 after the buyer's premium was added.

That works out at around £10 a sheet - which auctioneer Thomas Jenner-Fust thinks might be a record.

He said: "That has to be a world record for toilet paper. You could say we were flushed with success.

"It came from a house in Herefordshire but unfortunately the family had no idea where it came from.

"It's not complete, there are about 20 sheets and the end sheet has a tear mark across it. It's rather thin war-issue paper and wouldn't stand up to much."

The lot was sold by Chorley's Auctioneers, located near Cranham, Gloucestershire.
