A POPULAR cafe in Worcester is set to re-open after being closed for more than two years.

Coffee Dough, in Crowngate, was forced to close in October 2017 after work to refurbish the store found that there was a problem with the floor and leaks in the glass structure of the building.

Two years later, the cafe is re-opening, with staff being hired now.

On the cafe’s Facebook page, a post said: “We’re excited to announce that after a two-year hiatus we have begun work on the shop.

“For those unaware, in October 2017 we had closed to refit the floor and upon inspection we noticed leaks around the glass structure.

“Fast forward two years and the building is now watertight and we hope to be open late November or December.”

Coffee Dough first opened in 2013 and was the brainchild of Worcester businessmen Ilir Fazliu and business partners Adam Edney and Steve Sosna, who said at the time that the shop was inspired by the cafe bars of Italy.

Mr Edney said: "It is good to be back after two years and to see that we have been missed.

"We were unsure because other shops have since opened but it means a lot hearing people say how much they have missed us.

"It has been a long process working with our landlord to get everything restored, as you can imagine it is a complex process given the structure is made of glass."

Coffee Dough is hoping to re-open in early-December and is already hiring baristas to go with the manager who is already in place.
