A HALESOWEN bride whose £20k dream wedding was left in tatters with the Thomas Cook collapse married her partner in a "perfect" ceremony at the weekend.

Ruth Morse, now Miller, of Dogkennel Lane, was due to tie the knot with her partner Jordan Miller in Cyprus on October 8, but two years of planning were shattered when the holiday giant went bust.

Despite the set-back Ruth and Jordan were determined to make it to the altar and tied the knot at St Kenelm's Church in Romsley on Saturday (November 9) surrounded by friends and family after kind-hearted people rallied round to help.

Ruth had a picture of her brother Ben Morse, who was murdered in 2017, on her bouquet and said she felt he was with her in spirit on the day.

Ruth said: "It was amazing.

"The whole day was magical and perfect in every way - from the start to the end it was just beautiful.

"It felt like it was meant to be - I don't think it could ever have been any better. It was out of this world.

"I am completely high on life right now."

Ruth said Benjamin's in Halesowen did an amazing job decorating the room where the reception was held.

Sixty-six guests enjoyed a sit-down meal and 180 guests enjoyed the evening reception there.

The Photography Station in Kingswinford took wedding pictures for free after hearing about the couple's plans being hit.

Ruth said: "I can't thank everyone enough - the community in Halesowen has been so supportive and helpful, they have really been behind us and our family and friends have been brilliant, so many of them have helped us.

"Benjamin's did such an amazing job with decorating the room and the Photography Station were absolutely fantastic - the pictures are stunning."

Bridal shop The Dressing Rooms in Halesowen helped Ruth find a suit for the couple's son Isaac, aged four, who was pageboy.

Ruth's daughter Evie, aged nine, was bridesmaid with her dance school La'pelle Academy of Dance arranging a surprise performance on the day which Ruth said "blew her away."

Self-employed cleaner Ruth and Jordan, aged 35, who works for BT, went on holiday to Cyprus in October anyway as friends and family had booked with other operators.

They have still not heard from Thomas Cook but are hoping to get most of their money back, although they will have lost some.

Their honeymoon will be a long weekend in Barcelona next month.

Ruth's brother Ben, who was a staunch Arsenal fan, died aged 36. He was the victim of an intentional hit-and-run.

The Ben Morse Foundation charity was set up in Ben's memory to support local causes, community projects and those in need of help.

Nidal Alboraiki was jailed for life in October 2017 and will serve a minimum of 15 years for his murder.
