A CHARITY ball in aid of two cancer charities is being held in Rubery on Saturday, November 16.

The band Killerstream will be playing a gig called ‘The Big Charity Ball’ at Rubery Social Club on New Road from 7pm to midnight.

They will be belting out rock and pop classics from the 1960s through to today’s music.

The gig will raise funds for Cancer Research UK and Children With Cancer UK.

In addition to the music, there will be a raffle and other fundraising activities. Tickets cost £8 and are available from James on 07782 331407 or Val on 07470 508091.

The event has drawn praise from the family of Cofton Hackett youngster Oliver Portman, who suffers from a rare form of leukaemia that is requiring ongoing treatment.

Oliver’s mum Claire said: “We think it’s so kind of this band to organise this event and to raise money for such great charities which have offered, and continue to offer, us fantastic support.

“It’s such a selfless act and a good way to get together and raise money for very worthwhile causes.”
