CLENT Hills will be lit up to celebrate Diwali next month.

The National Trust is hosting a series of ‘Lighting Up’ events as part of the region’s Diwali celebrations.

The Clent Hills will host an illuminated ‘after dark’ walk on Saturday, November 2 from 4-7pm.

At the end of the mile-long pathway at the very top of Clent, the hills will glow with lights and people will gather around warming fire pits.

Visitors are invited to bring their own safe lighting (mobile phone torches, lanterns, lightsabres and glowsticks) to help celebrate.

Everyone is welcome to bring some food to share, a blanket to keep warm and enjoy the view of lights across the city from the hilltop.

The café will be closed but there will be limited supplies of stew and chai tea available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Diwali is one of the most significant festivals in Indian culture, celebrated by millions of people across the world over five days every autumn.

The Festival of Lights celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and good over evil.

In the run up to the night walk, the Clent Hills team will also be hosting 'Science of Fire & Light' workshops for children aged eight and older, which will demonstrate the beauty of fire and teach about its perils.

Tickets are £8 per child and the workshops will take place during half term between 1-3pm on Saturday, October 26, Wednesday, October 30 and Friday, November 1.
