CARS, costumes and challenges came together in a rally taking solicitors into Europe as they raise money for charity, bringing their fundraising to more than £50,000 over the last three months.

The Gumball Rally, which saw 19 teams taking part from across Harrison Clark Rickerbys saw them perform challenges which ranged from creating a human pyramid to taking a picture of the white cliffs of Dover.

The teams then went over to France and Belgium, ending up in Antwerp. Each team had a theme for their car and costumes, from Scooby Doo to the Flintstones.

A car of four took on the challenge from the Hereford office, with Head of office Matt Hayes captaining the team. There was also a team of three from the Wye Valley office.

The rally followed managing partner Rod Thomas’ Berlin Marathon run last weekend and staff from the firm’s eight offices also took on the Three Peaks Challenge in June.

The firm’s own foundation has raised close to £250,000 to charities since it was set up.

Rich Wilkey said: “The rally was great fun, a lot of work went into organisation, but staff really entered into the spirit of it all.

“Performing Baby Shark outside a house with a shark in its roof, re-creating a scene from Titanic on the ferry and generally being ready to look silly for a seriously good cause.

“The Foundation trustees will meet before the end of the year to decide how the money raised will be distributed – we want to make sure it has maximum impact.”
