THE fire service are urging people not to light fireworks at home themselves as organised displays are much safer.

But Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service will provide safety advice to those who choose to stay at home on November 5.

"Organised public displays are by far the safest way to enjoy Bonfire Night and so we are encouraging people to head along to one of these events with their families and friends rather than lighting fireworks themselves at home," a spokesperson said.

Benefits of going to an organised display include experienced professionals are handling the fireworks, spectactors are kept at a safe distance and the emergency services will be on standby.
