DESPITE breaking her jaw the last time she got on a bicycle, it hasn’t stopped a Kidderminster paramedic getting back in the saddle to raise money for a charity that saved her partner's life.

Clinical team mentor Natalka Greenwood, one of the stars of the More 4 series ‘999 on the Frontline’, is hoping to raise thousands for Birmingham-based blood cancer charity Cure Leukaemia by cycling between London and Paris over four days starting on Thursday, September 12.

It’s a cause that is particularly close to the 34-year-old’s heart.

Natalka’s partner Adam was cured by the team led by Professor Charlie Craddock.

She said: “If it wasn’t for Cure Leukaemia, I wouldn’t be leading the life that I do today with Adam."

But Natalka says the ride won’t be easy.

“The last time I rode a bike was about 12 years ago," she admitted.

"I was involved in a collision with a car and got knocked off landing on my chin breaking my jaw.

“I’ve been doing training rides of 35 miles or so, testing myself on the Clent Hills, and it is definitely the hills that will be my nemesis."

She added: “I have set up a Just Giving page with the aim of raising £1,900 but if I can raise more than that, it would be fantastic."

Natalka, who lives in Halesowen, qualified as a paramedic six years ago.

She worked from the Warwick Hub before becoming a clinical team mentor at Bromsgrove and now works most days in Kidderminster when on duty.
