A MAN has been taken to hospital following an incident in Worcester city centre this morning.

Police were called at 6.20am to the incident in Broad Street, which the Worcester News understands happened in the section of the road between Crowngate Shopping Centre, and the High Street and The Cross crossroads.

A West Mercia Police statement said: "Officers were called shortly before 6.20am this morning following a concern for welfare of a man.

"He was taken to hospital where he is currently receiving treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"Enquiries are currently ongoing.

"Thanks to everyone for their patience whilst emergency services were in attendance."

A cordon was in place at the scene for a few hours, before being lifted.

A market trader has told us he saw the cordon being taken down at around 8am, while staff at businesses in the area said the police had left by the time they opened up.
