A MALVERN pub has reached the final of a national competition to find the best place to have a pint at the end of a country walk.

The Nags Head in Bank Street is the West Midland finalist in the Britain’s Best Post-Walk Pint, run by outdoor retailer Mountain Warehouse, which has outlets in both Worcester and Malvern.

The citation describes the Nags Head as "the best pub in town to rest weary legs after a ramble around the renowned Hills.

"Just past the pub is a remarkable clock tower, which is a good starting point for a 8.1-mile quest to explore all that the Malvern Hills have to offer.

"After your ramble, The Nags Head is the go-to pub in the area to recharge.

"It is a simple pub with an open fire, exposed beams and terrace seating which you can look out over the Malvern Link common, plus it boasts a no-frills British menu for when hunger strikes."

The winning pub will receive an engraved tankard trophy and a £500 bar tab to share a celebratory drink with locals.

To vote, members of the public will need to visit the Mountain Warehouse website and find the pub awards page.
