COUNCILLORS will battle it out against Dudley Council staff in a special charity cricket match next month.

The two teams will go head to head at Stourbridge Cricket Club on August 2, where they will hope to stump up cash for the Mayor of Dudley’s charities.

Macmillan Cancer Support and The Wildlife Trust will benefit when the two teams play in a 20-overs-a-side match at the Memorial Ground, Amblecote, before a raffle and an auction.

Councillor David Stanley, Mayor of Dudley, said: "The annual cricket match between members and officers is always good fun and raises some much needed funding for charity as well.

"Members and officers give up their time to help these good causes, something that will make a difference to both charities. A huge thank you to Stourbridge Cricket Club for hosting us again this year too.”

The match is open to members of the public and starts at 6pm.
