HUNDREDS of children are taking part in the Herefordshire Schools Games today.

The event at Hereford Leisure Centre is focussing in on the six values of respect, honesty, teamwork, determination, passion and self-belief.

The games provide a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire young people aged from seven to 13 to take part in more competitive school sport and get physically active.

Each year since 2010, a mass of coloured t-shirts disperses inside the city's racecourse where more than 1,500 children and young people take part in a mini-Olympics style showpiece.

Providing a range of diverse opportunities for young Herefordians, the event is supported by a team of Young Leaders, organising activities and recording the highlights of the day.

Check the Hereford Times website for further updates, results and pictures from the event in the next few days.
