COMMUNITY-minded people are needed to help shape the future of Kidderminster's Brinton Park.

The Brinton Park Heritage Project is getting closer to applying for more funding from the National Lottery to carry out improvement works and Wyre Forest District Council is appealing for volunteers.

On Monday, July 1, a second visitor observation study will get under way and volunteers are needed to help complete it.

All volunteers will receive full training in how to carry out the observation study, which is set to last a month.

The training session will be on Thursday, June 27 from 6.30pm until 8pm in the Sons of Rest building located in the park.

It will also consist of a 30-minute walk around Brinton Park, designed to show volunteers exactly how they should conduct the study, with the added assistance of a map.

Councillor Helen Dyke, cabinet member for culture, leisure and community protection, said: “We’re recruiting volunteers to help us complete the study, even if they are only available for just an hour a week throughout July.

“Volunteering is a great way to give back to your local community and you will play a vital role in the future of Brinton Park. I really hope you can support the project by attending the training day.”

Anyone interested in attending the training session is asked to email lesley.fox@wyreforestdc.gov.uk.

If volunteers are unable to make the training day, the surveys can still be completed as full guidance notes will be emailed over to those interested, depending on availability.
