STAFF at a care home in Worcester say they are thrilled to have been nominated for two prestigious national care awards.

The awards recognise excellence and innovation in UK care home management, operation and delivery.

Perry Manor, on Charles Hastings Way, is up for ‘Best Individual Care Home’ and ‘Best Home for Sporting, Social or Leisure Activities.’

One of the positives identified is that the home has developed a strong relationship with the Worcester Warriors rugby club, with players visiting the home each week to enjoy a variety of activities.

Residents also enjoy regular inter-generational activities, with the team developing fortnightly visits from the local nursery, as well as art projects with older children.

Katherine Matthews, home manager at Perry Manor, said: “We are thrilled to have been nominated.

“At Perry Manor, we place great emphasis on individuals to ensure that everything they do or experience is meaningful and life-enhancing for them.

“Our activity-based approach to care means that residents are welcome to help around the home, and our extensive range of activities and regular outings aim to offer something for everyone.

“We aim to provide home-from-home care, built on respect and understanding of residents’ needs and wishes.

“The passion of our team and the quality of our service shows that the residents are at the heart everything we do.

"We have our fingers crossed for a win, “ she added.

Perry Manor opened in 2014 and provides full-time residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as a short-term respite care.

In October 2018, it was rated ‘outstanding’ by the CQC.
